My Giddy Aunt Creations, as salubrious as it may sound, is really Julie Ramsden, crocheting madly in her lounge room most evenings. As a part-time Graphic Designer and full-time mum she uses these precious few hours each day to, lovingly and painstakingly, create her whimsical crocheted characters.

Julie’s inspiration is mainly drawn from the different yarns she collects from opp shops, she delights in the anticipation of what she may find, it’s half the fun and it’s recycling in a way. Each toy is totally unique as the yarn she collects is often in small amounts and she loves to explore new ideas constantly.

Julie’s crocheting technique allow her designs to evolve, often she has only a rough idea of how she wants a piece to appear. A certain colour or texture will suggest a form, but like an unborn child there is an expectation of how it will look but the final result is always a wonderful surprise!
